Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 19, 2026

1. Introduction

tackd ("we", "our", "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the tackd mobile application ("the App"). By using the App, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Account information: When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address (if you choose to share them). Apple Sign-In allows you to hide your email address, in which case we receive a private relay address only.

Location data: When you grant location permission, we access your device's location to show your position on the map and to bias search results to nearby places. We do not track or store your location history on any server.

User-created content: Pins, routes, categories, and notes you create within the App are stored locally on your device.

Usage analytics: We collect anonymised usage data through Firebase Analytics, including screen views, feature usage, and app events. This data is aggregated and cannot be used to identify you personally.

Crash data: If the App crashes, Firebase Crashlytics collects technical information about the crash (device model, OS version, stack trace) to help us fix bugs. This does not include your personal content.

Performance data: Firebase Performance Monitoring collects anonymised data about app startup time and network request performance to help us optimise the App.

Subscription data: If you subscribe to tackd Premium, your payment is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect, see, or store your payment details, credit card number, or billing address. We only receive confirmation of your subscription status.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to provide, maintain, and improve the App. Specifically: to authenticate your account, display your saved pins and routes, calculate walking routes via Google Routes API, search for places via Google Places API, track anonymised usage patterns to improve the App, diagnose and fix crashes, and to communicate with you about your account if necessary.

4. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

Google Places API & Google Routes API: Used to search for places and calculate walking routes. Your search queries and route coordinates are sent to Google's servers. See Google's Privacy Policy.

Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics & Performance Monitoring: Used for anonymised usage analytics, crash reporting, and performance monitoring. See Firebase Privacy Policy.

Apple Sign-In & Google Sign-In: Used for authentication only. See Apple's Privacy Policy and Google's Privacy Policy.

We do not use any third-party advertising or tracking services. The App does not display ads.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your pins, routes, and categories are stored locally on your device using Apple's Core Data framework with NSFileProtectionComplete enabled, meaning your data is encrypted whenever your device is locked. Authentication tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain, which provides hardware-backed encryption. We do not operate any servers that store your personal data or content.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with any third parties for marketing, advertising, or any other commercial purposes. Data is shared only with the third-party services listed in Section 4, strictly as necessary to provide the App's core functionality (e.g., sending a search query to Google Places to return results).

7. Data Retention

Your account data and user-created content persist on your device until you delete them or uninstall the App. Anonymised analytics data is retained by Firebase according to their standard retention policies (typically 14 months for Analytics, 90 days for Crashlytics). If you delete your account through the App, all locally stored data is removed from your device.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Access: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.

Deletion: You can delete your account and all locally stored data through the App settings. You can also contact us to request deletion of any analytics data associated with your anonymous user ID.

Correction: You can update your name through your Apple or Google account settings.

Portability: You can request an export of your data by contacting us.

Objection: You can disable analytics collection by contacting us.

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with data protection laws, you have additional rights under GDPR or equivalent legislation. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@gettackd.app.

9. International Data Transfers

Analytics and crash data processed by Firebase may be transferred to and stored on servers in the United States or other countries. Google maintains appropriate safeguards for such transfers in accordance with applicable data protection law.

10. Children's Privacy

tackd is not intended for children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at hello@gettackd.app.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

12. Contact

If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or our data practices, please contact us at hello@gettackd.app.
